Space System Engineering

We provide full life-cycle Space systems engineering - from concept development and mission design to launch support, post-mission analysis, and system certification. Our expertise spans commercial, defense, and government programs, including work for USSF, AFRL, and NASA.

PAMI-1 Mission Overview

Mission Statement

The PAMI mission aims to deliver a sovereign Dutch space-based Earth Observation (EO) imaging capability that surpasses current mainstream commercial solutions. This system is designed to serve the operational needs of the Warfighter by enabling low-latency, secure laser communication, significantly reducing sensor-to-shooter time.

In addition, PAMI offers DSSC and FSO the opportunity to demonstrate and validate a newly developed laser communication terminal in an operational space environment. The mission will support data collection and performance feedback, contributing to further refinement and optimization of the system's design

Mission Objectives

The PAMI-1 satellite is designed to meet the following strategic objectives:

  • Deliver a sovereign Very High Resolution (VHR) Earth Observation imaging capability for use by operational units within the Ministry of Defense.
  • Enable near real-time tasking and secure payload data downlink via laser communications, integrated with the Space Development Agency's transport layer.
  • Support national-level sovereign tasking to enhance autonomy and responsiveness.
  • Offer a government-owned solution with a competitive cost per image compared to commercial alternatives.
  • Conduct a comprehensive series of in-orbit tests to validate the performance, reliability, and environmental resilience of the laser communication terminal under real space conditions.
